Casa Amarillo is a small beach cottage with a beautiful garden and direct ocean views from the home, the patio garden and the small plunge pool. We loved falling asleep every night and waking every morning to the sounds of the surf. Scarlet macaws visited the property's almond trees everyday. Jarra, the caretaker cut open coconuts for us. And we were able to buy fresh caught fish directly from fishermen. The inside furnishings and fixtures are pretty basic, but it's functional, comfortable and has everything you really need. Patri the property manager is quick to respond to any problems. The location, while beautiful, is not convenient to shopping or restaurants. There are two restaurants within walking distance on the beach. La Fiesta Del Marisco was especially good. Beyond those two, you will need a car or a driver. I highly recommend a driver Patri put me in touch with, Gilberth Montero, who not only provided us with transportation but also helped us plan and book tours and activities that really made our vacation special. I would love to stay here again and would recommend Casa Amarilla to anyone visiting this area of Costa Rica.

This home, right on the water, is beautifully and unpretentiously designed for a comfortable, aesthetic, sensuous experience. The garden has several outdoor garden spaces for socializing while looking at the ocean and seated midst well maintained tropical flowers and trees. The sun shifts and the shade in different garden spots is welcome because temperatures in early March are hot! The small plunge pool is a delight for cooling down, also while watching sunset and moonrise over the sea. The Pacific itself, right in front of the house, is warm and gentle. The beach is rocky but the rocks are gorgeous with interesting markings. They thin out and the beach is sandy as you come to ocean itself; also you can walk in either direction along the beach, to Tarcoles to the right and to a sandier beach on the left. Two national parks and Jaco are short drives. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds in the three bedrooms are comfortable. Patricia, the house manager, is wonderful. I had an accident while there and she went to extraordinary lengths to get me the medical care I needed. We also enjoyed Jarre who works in the garden and with the pool, a lovely man who showed us how to harvest cocoa beans from his plants and brew cocoa from them. This house has the best possible review from us and we're planning a family reunion there.

A little tricky to find the turnoff but young, sharp eyes saw it. Jarra, the groundskeeper met us on the road and guided us to the house. The house is comfortable. Well equipped kitchen with some cooking essentials on hand (salt, oil). Beds comfortable if you like them hardish. Location is exceptional. Fishermen on the beach daily, unloading huge fish almost nightly. Jarra acquired some which he shared with us (vela). Close to the Croc Bridge and Carara Pk. Jarra was around daily and the family enjoyed his lessons in Spanish, how to open and drink a coconut, etc. etc. Very happy, generous man to add to our experience. The trucks engine braking all day and even night were loud and a little much but the 6 of us all decided the beauty of the rest of it outweighed the noise. Manager stopped by for a nice visit and more lessons.

The perfect place to unplug and relax. Three bedrooms suitable for a larger group or just for two. Excellent restaurants nearby or you can travel south to to Playa Herradura of Jaco for entertainment and shopping. Definitely eat at LA Ostra, the food and drinks are the best!!
